How to Create a Team

A resource for creating your first Team on Cloverleaf.

Written by Jason Miller

You've been on many teams in your life. Whether it's your team at work or your team at home, you've likely been working with people all your life. But have you truly understood them? There's so much more to collaborating effectively outside of splitting up the work and just getting things done.

Diving deeper into how you communicate, how you problem-solve, and how you can build each other up can help your team truly thrive.

Creating a Team is the best way to visualize the cross-mapping of your team member's personalities, skills, strengths, and culture. Each Team gets its own dashboard on Cloverleaf.

Who is this for: any Cloverleaf user who has access to create and invite people to teams. If you do not have access to do any of the following, please contact your Cloverleaf Organization Admin.

How to Create a New Team from Discover Page

Select My Teams in the left sidebar navigation.

Create Your Team

A team creation page will appear where you can choose a team name and if your organization utilizes the 'groups' feature you will be prompted to select which group this team belongs under.

Inviting Your Teammates

Once you've set a team name you can start inviting people in. On this screen, you will see the option to create/copy an invite link which will allow anyone with the link to sign up and join your team or you can add individual members. When inviting members you will be able to search and select anyone who already has an account in your organization or you can enter an email address to invite someone to sign up.

If you would like someone to be a member and an admin you should add them in both boxes. Adding someone as an admin-only will give that person admin permissions over the team but they won't be included in the dashboard visualizations.

An email invite will be sent to members prompting them to accept and create an account, or if they already have one, be directed to the team dashboard.

Viewing Everyone on the Team Dashboard

Once everyone has accepted you will see all the team members on your Team Dashboard.

Get Coaching for your Team Using Discover

With the Discover feature, you can get coaching on whole teams, in addition to yourself and others. Use the feature to explore team dynamics and deepen collaboration.

Creating a Team from a Team Dashboard

If you have already joined a team, and are looking to create an additional team. Navigate to a Team Dashboard and click the "Add Team" button in the top right. Select the option to "Create a New Team" from there.

Regardless of which route you take, Cloverleaf will walk you through the next steps to get your team set up! While creating the new team, you will want to Choose a Team Name (usually aligns with what your team is called at your company) and Invite your Teammates to join.

  • Invite with Link: You can copy this link and send it directly to any teammates to join your team, whether they are new to Cloverleaf or already have a profile with your organization.

  • Add by email: Here you can search for existing team members, or you can invite new teammates to join Cloverleaf and your team.

  • Designate Admins: Here you can add other people as Team Admin to manage your team.

A Team Admin is usually the person who creates the team on Cloverleaf. The expectation is this person will maintain any systemic updates for the team, in the platform. i.e. adding members, sending team invitations, adding a facilitator, changing assessments, and general updates.
