How to connect the Cloverleaf MCP connector to your Claude account
What coaching capabilities become available once connected
How to verify the connection is working
Who can do this: All Cloverleaf users on a Claude Team account where an admin has already added the Cloverleaf connector. If you don't see Cloverleaf in your connectors list, ask your Claude admin to complete the one-time setup first (see the Admin Setup section below).
Why connect Cloverleaf to Claude?
Claude is a general-purpose AI assistant with no knowledge of how you or your teammates think, communicate, or work best.
Connecting the Cloverleaf Model Context Protocol (MCP) connector gives Claude access to your real assessment results and coaching insights, including DISC, 16 Types, Motivating Values, and more.
This means coaching guidance you get inside Claude is grounded in actual behavioral data rather than generic advice.
Once connected, you can ask Claude to help you prep for a 1:1, navigate a difficult conversation, or understand how two people work together, and get responses informed by your Cloverleaf Relationship Profiles.
Connector Setup: How do I add Cloverleaf as a connector for the team (as an admin) or for my personal account?
If you are on a Claude Team / Enterprise account, this section is for Claude admins only. Individual users don't need to complete this step if Cloverleaf is already available in the connectors list.
If you are on a personal Claude Pro/Max account, you can install the connector for your personal account.
In Claude, go to Settings and open the Connectors tab.
Click the + icon in the top-right corner of the Connectors panel.
Select Add custom connector.
In the dialog, set the Name field to Cloverleaf.
Paste the following URL into the Remote MCP Server URL field: https://app.cloverleaf.me/api/mcp
Leave the OAuth fields blank.
Click Add.
Find Cloverleaf in your connectors list and click Connect to complete browser authorization.
You'll know it worked when
Cloverleaf appears as "Connected" in your Connectors panel under Customize.
How do I connect and authorize the Cloverleaf connector?
This takes about one minute. Follow these steps:
In Claude's left sidebar, click Customize.
Open the Connectors tab. This lists every connector available on your account.
Find Cloverleaf in the list. It will show a note that you are not yet connected.
Click Connect to open the Cloverleaf authorization page.
Review the list of permissions. Cloverleaf will be able to verify your identity, access your basic profile, view your email address, read your assessments and coaching insights, and act on coaching data on your behalf.
Click Authorize.
You'll see a "Connected to Cloverleaf" confirmation. The connector is now active.
Adding the Cloverleaf skill as a plugin
In addition to the connector, you can add the Cloverleaf coaching skill to Claude as a personal plugin. This installs the /cloverleaf skill from the public Cloverleaf marketplace and keeps it up to date automatically. It takes about a minute.
Open the Customize panel in Claude's left sidebar. Next to Personal plugins, click the + icon, then choose Create plugin > Add marketplace.
In the Add marketplace dialog, paste the public Cloverleaf repository URL — https://github.com/cloverleaf-coach/cloverleaf-skills — then click Sync. Claude shows a standard trust warning for marketplace plugins; this is the official Cloverleaf repository, so it's safe to continue.
The marketplace now appears in the Directory under Plugins. Find the Cloverleaf plugin card and click the + to add it.
You'll see a confirmation that Cloverleaf is installed and ready to use.
Cloverleaf now appears under Personal plugins in Customize, with its source listed as the marketplace. Because it's linked to the marketplace, it keeps syncing automatically as new coaching skills are released.
To update the plugin later — or turn on automatic updates — open the Customize panel, click the + next to Personal plugins, and choose Browse plugins to open the Directory.
In the Directory, go to Plugins > Personal. Under Local uploads, click the ⋯ menu next to cloverleaf-skills.
The menu shows the currently synced commit. Click Check for updates to pull the latest version right away, or toggle Sync automatically to update whenever a new commit lands on the default branch. You can also Remove the marketplace from here.
With Sync automatically turned on, the toggle turns blue and Cloverleaf stays up to date on its own — no manual refresh needed.
Once installed, invoke it by typing /cloverleaf in any chat, or let Claude use it automatically for relevant coaching tasks.
What can I do once connected?
With the connector active, you can ask Claude questions like:
"What does my Cloverleaf Relationship Profile say about how I show up under pressure?"
"Help me prep for a 1:1 with [teammate name]."
"How should I give [teammate name] feedback about a missed deadline so it actually lands?"
"Show me the relationship dynamics between me and [teammate name]."
"Give me my coaching for today."
Claude will pull your real assessment data interpreted personality dynamics directly in the conversation.
To use the connector in a chat, make sure Cloverleaf is toggled on in that conversation's tool settings.
How do I verify the connection is working?
Start a new chat and ask: "Using Cloverleaf, what does my Relationship Profile say about how I show up under pressure?"
If the connection is working, Claude will respond with a Cloverleaf personality card grounded in your real assessment results. If Claude says it cannot find the tool, go back to Customize > Connectors, confirm Cloverleaf shows as connected, and use the Refresh tools list option.
